As we are a working Dairy during your cheesemaking day you will have the opportunity to get involved with the commercial cheesemaking tasks such as salting the larger batches of cheese. Cheesemaking is 90% cleaning and washing up but don't worry we won't make you do that also!
1 day Cheesemaking Workshop

A unique one day experience for yourself or a gift for someone special. Led by Sophie this full-day workshop will help you understand the fundamentals of cheesemaking.
The day begins (after coffee and pastries of course!) getting started and making your very own batch of Little Mester cheese. This is a surface ripened cheese, similar to a young camembert, which you will create from fresh milk through to the moulding stage. You are welcome to take them home to mature or we will look after them in our maturing rooms until they are ready for you to collect in a couple of weeks time.
After lunch we then make a second cheese, Ricotta, using the whey of from our Little Mester make.
We also include a cheese tasting session of around 5 artisan cheeses to allow discussion on how the different flavours and textures are produced.
